二重マッピングモデルとその製品デザイン支援ツールへの応用

One of the major problems in designing interactive systems is that the users do not perceive a designed system as the designers intended. For example, the designers have constructed a system in an effort to embody a set of given top-level design concept, such as ‘heavy and deep’ and ‘simple’. However, the users might conceive the designed system as ‘sober’ and ‘practical.’ The designers want to identify the design elements that cause the mismatching, and replace them with the ones that might reduce the degree of mismatching. This paper proposes a cognitive model, a dual mapping model, that simulates uncertain evaluation processes in kansei by designers and those by users. There are two mapping processes in the model: the designers’ mapping process, that transforms a set of top-level design concept onto an idea sketch, and the users’ mapping process, that converts the design sketch to impression words. Based on the dual mapping model, this paper proposes a tool for designers that supports their activities for enhancing the idea sketch so that users impressions to it should converge to the given top-level design concept.
